Poetry in Praxis @ Edmonton Poetry Festival

“Wonder full” “Embracing and honest refreshing” “Thanks for reminding us that Poetry Matters” “I Love you” “These voices filling City Hall are inspiring & powerful!” “Paving your\our own path” “Keep up your amazing work” “Heart keep beating, wings that lift the world & carry us home” “So many insights speak on” “So many thoughts, so many emotions”

These are some of the written comments which were left by the 30 or so attendees who made time to come and join us on this marvellous occasion.

To cap off this amazing morning, Writing Revolution in Place proudly makes a very special presentation. A traditional gift of a Star Blanket in tribute of overwhelming gratitude, deepest respect and sincere appreciation for all that this most gracious and charming couple has done for our group. We acknowledge the deep devotion and loyalty of these two, two of our staunchest supporters and most generous benefactors have done to keep the fires of our revolution going over these last 3 years.

Again we thank all those who attended.
Making this event so very special to all of us at Writing Revolution in Place

Writer's vent

I am a writer passionate committed and aware, I rage I rant I laugh I cry. There is constant narrative pulsing throughout me even when I slumber and when I dream. I observe question and inquire.
I write with every functional sense which I possess.

Rangas on Generosity 2

To share everything you have and more.
To be generous with friends and yourself.
To share joy and pain.

I love this everything you have. Both joy and pain – sharing is about not just the good…I guess that is if we are talking about friendship…a friend shares not selectively, we don’t just take but give

joy and pain
joy and pain
joy and pain & sharing…
interesting combination
i do say!

I do say indeed! What opposites. What a relationship between these two feeling. It seems both of those feelings are important to generosity.  Sometimes it hurts to share and receive. Sometimes it is joyous.

It is more blessed to give than receive. That is the formula.

sir, I did not count your glasses of wine, why do should you number up my cups of tea!?
Pinot grigio for me, please! Six glasses then we can talk about everything – including tea!

Helping out the next old timer you meet?

Blue Quills Reflections

Blue Quills Reflections

A group of individual personal writings inspired by our group's pilgrimage to the site of the former Blue Quills Indian Residential School and now the proud current home of the
Blue Quills First Nations College.

Larry

I had a vibrating feeling going all over my body while outside and inside the collage.
It was like the dead were sending me a message.
Seeing pictures of classmates Some with fake smiles. The café had great food and staff.
Interesting stories from our guide.
I loved the artwork that was all over the place.

more than a museum, but a reclamation –
you cannot change history by burning it.

I like and dislike Blue Quills at the same time.  Someone said “why don’t we just burn the place down?” Yes, but the stuff that is happening today on the very spot where these horrible things took place is reclamation.

I dislike how justice has been handled/dealt regarding the atrocities at residential schools. I like Blue Quills as a place of uncomfortable remembrance and also reclamation.
